Throughout a long career in law, Steve Jaeger, Sr. has become renowned as an exceptional lawyer offering exemplary judgement and sound advice. Dedicated to his clients, community, and profession, Steve brings compassion, commitment, and a diverse background to the firm.
Before his appointment and election as judge in District Court in 1987, Steve served as an assistant county attorney for more than four years and was also an independent practitioner in general law for several years. He was elected as a Circuit Judge in 1995, where he remained until 2007. He served two terms as Chief District Judge and as Chief Circuit Judge in Kenton County and continued to hear cases as a Senior Status Judge from 2007 to 2010.
Steve graduated summa cum laude from Thomas More College before earning his JD from Salmon P. Chase College of Law. In addition to teaching law at the Kentucky Court of Justice Clerk and District/Circuit/Appellate Judicial Colleges and Xavier University, he’s been an instructor at Beckfield College since 1986. In 2002, he was appointed Interim Co-Chair of Paralegal Studies at Beckfield and lead instructor in 2009. In 2012, he became the interim Dean of the Paralegal Studies program. Steve has also taught Trial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy at Chase College of Law.
Steven R. Jaeger is currently licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Northern Kentucky Bar Association.
An active member of the community, Steve’s time, knowledge, and expertise has been a valuable asset to the Northern Kentucky region. From 1997 to 2001, Steve was a key member of the Judicial Advisory Committee in the Governor’s Office of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Services. He was chair of the Statewide Court Technology Committee from 1998 through 2009. He also chaired the Joint Workgroup of the Court of Justice, Kentucky Bar Association and Administrative Office of the Courts e-filing and e-processes initiative.
Steve has frequently volunteered his time to assist area schools in Mock Trial tournaments, where he has served as a judge. He also coached Knothole Baseball for 17 years and was a member of the Dixie Heights High School Band Boosters for 12 years, serving two terms as President.
